All of (or most) of the kit pieces need to be coated with epoxy - some say 2 coats are sufficient, while others suggest 3 is better. So, 3 it is.
The hull bottom is one of the first pieces needed during the assembly (sometime in the future....), and it is rather large, so lets get it out of the way first thing.
It comes in two pieces, so first thing is to glue the halves together. Here we see the joint being clamped with kitty litter, epoxy jugs, etc.

And the puzzle joint looked like this after curing overnight.
Some scraping, followed by some sanding, and it cleans up pretty well. Next I applied 3 coats of straight epoxy, with light sanding between coats. First coat was pretty bumpy, next two less so. I am still working on the technique of spreading the epoxy with a roller and getting an even coat. The inside of the bottom is a good place to start, cause it will be mostly hidden from view later on.
And, there is the bottom with its 3 coats, up against the wall out of the way until it is needed.
Meanwhile, there are a lot more pieces that need to be epoxy coated before I can do the initial assembly. These are the four (of eight total) bulkheads that are included in the initial assembly.
Sand, clean, coat with epoxy, wait for cure, rinse, repeat. Both sides for most parts.
